what to do when God seems silent...
i was sorting some old stuff in my room, when i came across a folded 2 piece yellowish old bond paper, a photocopy of an article from signs of the times way back 2001. it was the same article na na-touched ako years ago, kayo pinaphotocopy ko. i knew there was something important with this that i kept it for a very long time... i read it again... and i cried.. and it seems like i am reading it for the first time again.
He was sitting beside the bed of his wife in a hospital room, he did this the 3rd time.. his wife just gave birth for the 3rd time, but this time feels strange... his wife hardly recognise him. Mr. Partee asked for the nurse, but he was assured that confusion was just from the anesthesia.. he waited for 10 minutes but his wife's condition, seems to worsen.. he insisted on calling the doctor.. he was asked to stepped out of the room, for they will evaluate his wife... few minutes later, the doctor emerged from her room, pale and drawn. He told Mr. Partee the bad news.. his wife's uterus has ruptured, and she's bleeding profusely. an emergency OR was done.
i want to quote Mr. Partee's exact words "I'd never really prayed before, but now i found myself kneeling on the hard, cold waiting room floor. I waited and prayed for nineteen hours. "please Lord, save my wife", i said. "Don't let her die, Please God. i'll do anything you ask me to, but don't let her die."
God is real no matter how we feel.
it is always easy to praise the Lord when everything is doing great in our life...
But life's not always easy, not always pleasant...
after 19 hours of waiting and crying and praying, doctors came to Mr. Partee and told him that they'd done all they could, but it wasn't enough.
"This can't be happening, she's only 23, she's too young to die" Mr. Partee whispers to himself.
His anger was took out on God.
"You don't care what happens down here on earth. I prayed to you and you didn't answer! i want nothing to do with you from now on!"
How to praise God when you don't understand whats happening in your life and God is silent?
Remember Job.
He worshiped the Lord and said,
"Naked i came from my mother's womb and naked will i depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, may the name of the Lord be praised".
Focus on God's unchanging nature.
Magtiwala tayo sa pangako ng Diyos. isipin natin na sa panahon ng mga pagsubok, dinadala tayo ng Diyos sa mas malalim na level ng ating spiritual maturity...
the day of the funeral came, it was strange that he found himself standing next to the bible. a certain attractions pulls him closer to it. he picked it up but didn't opened. holding just makes him feel better. while standing by the coffin, a good friend, Allan came and extended his condolences. Allan slipped a piece of paper in his pocket with his phone number. sensing his confused state, he told him to call him whenever he needs him, anytime, day or night..
weeks went by, and Mr. Partee's emotional state worsened. he was suggested to start working again. he returned to work and a stranger approached him asking for the key. later he found out that the company had been sold and wanted to use their own people.
Life isn't worth living. A voice from his head told him, "Life isn't worth living, you might as well end it now". he was about to take a leap on a busy street in front of a passing car, when he remembered his friend Allan.
he called him and told him what happened. the first verse he shared with him was Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and i will give you rest. take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for i am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls." that is what he actually need, rest.
Romans 3:23 "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
but remember Romans 6:23 "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
and finally Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on to the name of the Lord will be saved".
Ating alalahanin that the character of God is unchanging
He is loving, all powerful, he is in control, he has a plan for me and he will save me..
Looking back,
Mr. Partee recognised that God never left him even when he is running away from Him. The Lord was with him in that cold, hospital floor... the Lord was with him at the funeral home... the Lord drew him to the bible... The Lord sent his messenger to him....The Lord gave him the right words... The Lord gave him a brand new life and a future life in heaven...
Let us all remember.. Christ died for us. Ipinako Siya sa cross para sa atin. Siya ay kinutsa, ipinako, pinahirapan at tinorture hanggang sa mamatay...
Jesus gave up everything so we could have everything...
He died so we could live forever
Praise be to God.
"That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10the article was written by Mr. Milton Partee, his real life experience of how God stepped into his life when he was about to stepped out of it..
