It is finished! Let us be united for a better Philippines
the moment i shaded my last vote, i said to my self, "Lord, your will be done".
Politics always intrigues me. Always. I dunno why i took medicine instead of political science but every political issue, i always feel the need to be informed, to be educated, to be involved. As ordinary citizen, i know i should take part. I should learn more. In the past national and local elections i've been clearly taking my active part in voicing my opinion in writing and in social media. I was in highschool when the impeachment of President Erap was a hot issue. I was an editorial writer back then. The need to be involved in every political issue was there right from the very begining.
But this 2016 elections was different. I rarely stated my opinion on social media, posted few about elections on my account, only discussed my opinion to a friend once and never again. I have doubts with all the presidential candidates, i secretly wished for Senator Escudero to run for presidency but that didnt happen. It even boils down to the point i rarely logged in my facebook account. I am sick with all the arguments (pointless and significant) posted.
When i watched the speech Mayor Duterte (back then, now, Mr. President) said during a religious meeting with Pastor Quibuloy. "Pag natalo ako, edi walang problema, mas problema pa pag nanalo ako, pati isang constipated na pilipino, problema ko pa yan, dahil pag hindi lumabas yan, kasalanan pa ng gobyerno yan." That was a lengthy speech, and am slowly leaning on him to be my president. Few weeks before the election, i have decided to vote for him, until i heard the news about Jose Maria Sison, the communist revolutionary government... I was scared for a moment. 3 nights before the election, i cant sleep. Afraid of what can happen to our country if the revolutionary communist form of government will push trough. That time, i am not sure anymore, to whom i'll entrust my vote. I prayed hard that night, if ever the mayor wins, i hope, i was wrong. "Lord pls, thy will be done. All i want is the best for my country."
Yesterday, ang ating dugong Pilipino ay nabuhay ulit. Nakita na ang karamihan ay nakiisa at ginampanan ang kanilang karapatan, our right as a Filipino was again exercised. The right to vote. We may have different opinions, parties, political views yesterday. But today, down to the last vote, the voice of the majority has spoken. May we be united. We are all Filipinos, one country, one nation. Let us respect democracy and give our support for our country's present leader. We may be divided few weeks back. But today can be a start of a better Philippines. This can start from ourselves. Be a more responsible citizen. It is finished. Forget the pain, all candidates did their part, had given their all, been tired with all the intrigues and labor of campaign, But for now let us support our present leaders.. And as ordinary citizens, hopefully, we can be more involed in the pursuit of information about the intricacies of politics, economy and policy. The election has ended but I hope being a filipino doesnt just end here, but a rather a new beginning for the betterment of our own land, our dear Inang bayan.
